About the series
Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) was born into a human family, lost her parents at an early age, and became the ward of the Vulcan Sarek (James Frain). When Michael grew up, she enlisted in Starfleet and began serving under the command of Captain Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh). One day their ship came across a mysterious object that turned out to be part of a cloaked Klingon vessel. While investigating the object, Michael killed a Klingon who attacked her, and the aliens used this as a pretext to start a war with the United Federation of Planets.
