About the title
When a company of thirteen dwarves hired the hobbit Bilbo Baggins as their burglar and fourteenth, "lucky" member of their quest to the Lonely Mountain, Bilbo believed his adventures would end once he completed his task — finding the treasure so desperately needed by the dwarf leader Thorin. The journey to Erebor, the dwarf kingdom seized by the dragon Smaug, proved even more dangerous than the dwarves and even Gandalf — the wise wizard who lent Thorin and his company a helping hand — had anticipated. An army of orcs, led by an ancient evil awakened in the ruins, set off in pursuit of the dwarves, while the elves and men, whom Bilbo and his companions had to deal with during their journey and who suffered from the consequences of the dwarves' desire to reclaim their home, demanded a generous reward — a share of the treasure of the Lonely Mountain. Soon, five armies will meet near the Lonely Mountain, and only a bloody battle will determine the outcome of the dwarves' bold quest.
