About the title
What secrets do these old documents of his father hold?.. Peter decides to find out everything. Sneaking into the secret Oscorp laboratory where his father worked, marked with the same symbols found in the documents, he sees that spiders are being researched there. On his way out, he accidentally carries one out on himself, and it soon bites him. On the way home, he discovers he now has unusual abilities — incredible strength and agility. The next day, Peter decides to go see his father's former friend and colleague, Curt Connors. He, too, doesn't know the reason for his father's disappearance, and says that without him the research has now hit a dead end. Peter, asking for paper and a pencil, writes out the completing formula found in his father's notes, unaware that in doing so he has set in motion both a catastrophe and his own feats to come...
