About the title
A happy couple, John and Mia, are expecting their first child. The young woman collects antique dolls and has long been trying to track down a particular one, Annabelle. To her immense joy, she receives it as a gift from her husband. The doll becomes the pride of her collection and takes a place of honor in the nursery. That same night, members of a satanic cult break into the house and attack the young family. One of the attackers kills herself while holding the Annabelle doll. Mia is wounded in the struggle but survives. After this terrifying event, peaceful life is over for her. Frightening occurrences begin happening in the house — the sewing machine turns on by itself, the baby's chair rocks with the doll sitting in it. Annabelle starts to terrify the young woman, and the toy is thrown away. After the baby is born, the couple moves to a new house. Among the boxes of belongings, Mia finds the doll and keeps her husband's gift. This decision turns out to be a huge mistake and sets off a chain of horrifying events that follow.
