About the title
A family with two children lives on a remote farm. Their life would seem no different from that of any other such family, but they live in a place filled with terrifying monsters that react to any sound. The family has learned a whole system of special gestures that let them communicate with one another without making a single sound. In addition, every member of the family must move very quietly so the dangerous creatures don't hear them. However, the house where the children live cannot be the quietest place on earth.
