About the title
In 1950s Hong Kong, where the colonial authorities collude with criminal syndicates, a ruthless clearing of poor neighborhoods begins. The British administration, in secret agreement with the criminal underworld, launches a so-called slum clearance, condemning thousands of people to eviction and destroying their modest homes and shops. Ip Man, whose name has become synonymous with martial arts mastery, cannot turn a blind eye to this injustice. He gathers around him others who have also suffered from the new order — his devoted students. Together they become the shield of their neighborhood, organizing resistance against a powerful and ruthless enemy. Ip Man will have to not only fight, but also become a diplomat, uniting scattered communities to repel the invaders.
