About the title
The events of the film "My Hachiko" unfold in the Chinese city of Chongqing in the early 2000s. The protagonist is Chen, an aging university professor who, while returning from an academic conference with his colleagues, picks up a frightened, dirty puppy along the way. None of Chen's colleagues want to take the dog. So the man decides to bring it home, even though he knows his wife doesn't like dogs. Chen promises his wife that the puppy won't stay long — he'll find it new owners. But in truth, the protagonist has no intention of looking for another home for the dog. The puppy is named Hachiko, and soon he becomes a full-fledged member of the family.
