Vera Yelagina is a brilliant surgeon specializing in elective abdominal surgery. Her profession has taught her to be decisive and tough, to know how to hide her feelings. Vera's perfectionism extends to her work, her clothes, her family. She always looks impeccable, but her loved ones and friends cannot live up to her high demands. As a result, Vera's husband has left, and she lives with her teenage daughter. One day Vera learns that her patient, 16-year-old Zoya, has died under strange circumstances. At one point, Vera used forged prescriptions to help Zoya, who had undergone surgery, obtain opioid painkillers. Due to the investigation that was launched, the forgery comes to light, and a case is opened against Vera for drug trafficking. Trying to figure out what happened to her patient, Vera begins cooperating with investigator Pakhomov, while also helping the captain solve another crime.
