About the title
Kate is a talented pianist forced to end her musical career prematurely after being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which makes even everyday tasks difficult for her. Her perpetually busy husband, Evan, decides to hire a caregiver, and out of many candidates, Kate chooses the bold, carefree student Bec, whose openness helps her fight off depression. When Evan starts an affair with his secretary, Cynthia, Bec becomes the only one keeping Kate from losing her will to live.
