About the title
1942. While the country's forces are focused on fighting Nazi Germany, gangs are plundering gold mines in southern Yakutia. The largest of them is the elusive and ruthless Popov gang, which is gathering stolen gold to fund a military coup in the Far East. A small NKVD detachment led by senior lieutenant Karasev sets out across the vast snowbound taiga to track them down.
