About the title
On his way home, Mr. Earnshaw, the owner of Wuthering Heights estate, picks up a lonely orphan on the road. This is how Heathcliff finds a home, a family, and a close friend — he and the master's daughter Catherine become inseparable. After Mr. Earnshaw's death, the estate is inherited by Hindley, Catherine's brother. Having harbored resentment and jealousy toward Heathcliff his whole life, Hindley keeps the young man at the estate only as a servant. The only thing that brightens his days is the time spent with Catherine.
