About the title
A law-abiding citizen and avid fan of crime films — especially Korean thrillers — Li Weijie lives with his family in a small town. One day his high-school daughter, an excellent student and beauty, goes on a two-day school trip, where the son of the local police chief and mayoral candidate drugs and rapes her, filming it all on his phone. When he comes the next day to blackmail the girl, the young man gets hit on the back of the head with a hoe, and the terrified mother and daughter hide the body in an already-existing grave. Weijie returns from a business trip and comes up with a plan to keep his family from being punished, since the missing boy's mother will use all her influence and resources.
