About the title
After the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, attorney Kenneth Feinberg is appointed head of the victims' compensation fund. He must literally put a price on the lives lost in order to pay out compensation. Feinberg finds himself caught between two fires — people awaiting compensation for a loss that cannot truly be measured, and various lobbies seeking to reduce those payouts. Kenneth immerses himself in the tragedies of those who lost loved ones in the towers, discovering the pain and grief hidden behind the cold figures on paper.
