About the series
The film tells of the years when the Greeks occupied Izmir. Azize is a mother caring alone for three children in wartime, in the absence of her husband. Her husband is a captain in the Turkish forces. She and Cevdet have two daughters — Yıldız and Hilal — and a son, Ali Kemal. In addition, her mother-in-law lives with them and treats her like a daughter. Suddenly word arrives that the Greeks are occupying Izmir, and from that moment their whole life will change... But the occupation will also bring them good news — the one they have longed for will return. Dark clouds hang not only over the country, but over our heroes as well. They also have invisible enemies. Cevdet's close friend, Captain Tevfik, is madly envious of Cevdet, having been in love with his wife since childhood. Tevfik has nothing to lose and nothing dear to him, so he will do everything to separate Cevdet and Azize...
