Smolensk is an average city located in the central belt of Russia. Only one thing sets Smolensk apart from any other provincial town in this region - vampires live in Smolensk. They've lived there a long time. They live quietly. They live by the law. They live the unremarkable life of an ordinary provincial family and don't kill people at all. Although, of course, they do drink blood. And now, when drained bodies of young men are found in a birch grove near Smolensk... their peaceful life comes under threat. The vampire "cell of society" is headed by the oldest vampire, old man Slava, also known as Svyatoslav Vernidubovich, while the "keepers," led by the stern Irina Vitalyevna, watch over compliance with the laws governing vampire-human coexistence.
