About the title
Paris, 1887. Under French law, duels have long been banned, but many aristocrats continue to defend their honor the old way. For some, it is simply the only way to prove themselves. Fencing master Clément Lacaze (Roschdy Zem) learns that his nephew Adrien (Damien Bonnard) has agreed to a duel with the more experienced Colonel Berchère. The uncle tries to talk the reckless young man out of it, but in vain. Meanwhile, women's rights activist Marie-Rose (Doria Tillier) challenges the author of a magazine who writes nasty things about suffragettes to a duel. It will be the first duel fought between a woman and a man — nothing like it has happened even in the underground dueling world. This spectacular historical drama with French stars was directed by Vincent Perez, who also plays one of the supporting roles in the film. The film premiered at the Karlovy Vary festival.
