About the title
Writer Tsutomu lives alone in a mountain cabin in Nagano. In the mountains he gathers fruit and mushrooms, and also grows vegetables in a field. Sometimes he's visited by his friend, editor Machiko. Together they have a good time, cooking meals from seasonal ingredients. Tsutomu seems to enjoy his quiet life, but he still can't bring himself to bury the ashes of his wife, who died 13 years ago.
