About the title
George Decker dreams of escaping his life and flying to the Bahamas, but to get there, he'll have to find a way to escape from his wife, enormous debts, a humiliating job, and American culture, which he believes was created to wear him down. George's wife, Annie Decker, also has a dream: to land the lead role in a commercial, which is the most-watched television program in America. George and Annie have friends, Mikey and Gemma Breyer, who are also consumed by suspicions, prejudices, and scandals. Mike is an unemployed entrepreneur, and Gemma secretly finds comfort in the arms of another man. Tension is rising across the country, as citizens have to be shot to obtain medical insurance. As Annie's acting career reaches new heights, George's frustration leads to her downfall, and the lives of these four selfish, ambitious people intersect in a funny, cruel, and strikingly unpredictable way.
