About the title
Pete Mitchell, nicknamed Maverick, has remained one of the Navy's best pilots for over 30 years: a fearless test pilot, he pushes the boundaries of the possible while carefully avoiding the kind of promotion that would ground him for good. Tasked with training a squad of Top Gun graduates for a special mission unlike any before, Maverick meets Lieutenant Bradley Bradshaw, the son of his late friend, Lieutenant Nick Bradshaw. Uncertainty lies ahead, and the ghosts of the past lie behind. Maverick is forced to confront his deepest fears, which threaten to resurface within a mission that demands exceptional sacrifice from those chosen to fly it.
