About the title
Adults are wrong to think their children sleep at night. What is invisible to their eyes and inaudible to their ears is always sensed by a child. Every midnight, an old clock striking thirteen times opens a gate for fourteen-year-old Tom Long into the fairy-tale world of the Victorian era, and the old, cluttered garden transforms into a splendid park, in whose alleys young Tom discovers deep friendship and first love. But, alas, time cannot be turned back, and one day the wonderful magic will come to an end. And only Tom will forever carry within him a fragment of that fairy-tale world from the most vivid dreams of childhood.
