About the title
After a global catastrophe on Earth, the surviving humans relocate to a space colony in the Kepler system. Years later, they begin sending astronauts back to Earth to determine whether the planet has become habitable. Arriving with the second such expedition, astronaut Louise Blake discovers that despite the constant tides that destroy the already scarce food, there are survivors on Earth after all, but their communities are locked in a constant struggle for resources. Soon a terrible secret of the first expedition, in which her father took part, is revealed to her, and the young woman faces a decision that could prove fatal both for the abandoned planet and for all of humanity.
