About the series
The story follows the Buckley family, who for generations have dominated the fishing industry of a coastal town in North Carolina. Behind a facade of apparent prosperity lie mounting business troubles and simmering family feuds. The elderly Harlan Buckley, head of the fishing empire, is a drunk and a womanizer recovering from his second heart attack. His long-suffering wife Belle, who runs a restaurant, turns a blind eye to her husband's philandering while keeping dark secrets of her own. Their son Cane, trying to save the family's finances, gets tangled up with criminals. Meanwhile, their daughter Bree, a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, is fighting to regain custody of her teenage son.
