A girl who has come on a school trip to Washington runs away from her tour group and begins her own journey across the American capital, getting into risky situations. Lillian arrives with a school trip from provincial South Carolina to Washington. Without thinking twice, she leaves her classmates behind and sets off to find adventure. A whole world of cities and locales along the East Coast opens up before the schoolgirl. She ends up in strange bars, wanders the streets, and meets various representatives of American society, from the far right to the far left. On this phantasmagoric journey, Lillian may be changed forever.
