About the series
Michael Peterson is a family man and author of crime novels. One night, deep in the night, police receive a call: Kathleen, Michael's wife, has been found dead by the staircase in their own home. Her husband becomes the prime suspect. The death of Peterson's wife Kathleen in 2001 caused a great stir in the press, and a documentary, also titled "The Staircase," was later made about it, but now the story has been given a dramatized retelling. In 2022, the Peterson case returns to the screen, starring Colin Firth and Toni Collette. This is a new crime series about the trial concerning a husband accused of murdering his wife. "The Staircase" joins the ranks of numerous recreated stories inspired by real crimes and real fraud. Shows such as "Pam & Tommy," "Inventing Anna," "The Pam Case," and others have recently premiered on television. Notably, the cast includes an Academy Award winner, an Emmy Award winner, a "Game of Thrones" alum, and many others.
