About the title
What do pets do while their owners are away at work? Do they gaze longingly out the window? Doze meekly on the mat by the door? Not quite. They lead a secret life of their own. The story follows Katie and her dog Max, who is used to being his owner Katie's one and only pet. They live in perfect harmony, like best friends. But one fine day the idyll ends, when a new pet — Duke — is brought into the house. And Max starts to dislike his new roommate; after all, Duke is taking his owner's attention away from him, and who does he think he is? Max decides to teach Duke a lesson and get rid of him, so that Katie's love will once again belong to him alone — but as a result, both of them end up far from home, and now they'll have to find some way to work together to find their way back...
