America, the 1870s. Fate brings together, in a stagecoach, the family of a stern, taciturn Danish settler named Jon and two notorious criminals just released from prison. The thugs kill his wife and son, and are themselves killed by Jon, driven mad with grief. But it turns out one of them was the brother of local gang leader Delarue, who holds the whole region in terror — even the mayor and sheriff fear him like fire. After staging a public execution of three townspeople, Delarue forces the rest to join the hunt for his blood enemy. Madelaine, the widow of the bandit Jon killed, also thirsts for the Dane's death…
