About the title
After completing a course of rehabilitation therapy, Rona returns from London to her native Orkney Islands for the first time in ten years. Reuniting with the achingly familiar, majestic landscapes awakens memories of the past in the young woman, which overlap with her difficult present. Trying to stay afloat in her new life, one that alcohol nearly destroyed, Rona pieces together a new version of herself bit by bit. "The Outrun" is an adaptation of Amy Liptrot's debut novel, starring Saoirse Ronan in the lead role.
