About the title
Director Tobias Grammet, struggling in Spain over yet another advertising masterpiece, sets off in search of inspiration to the village where, ten years earlier, he shot his graduation film about Don Quixote. There he finds the actor who played the lead role — a now-mad old cobbler convinced that he really is the Knight of the Sorrowful Countenance! The old man mistakes Toby for his faithful squire Sancho and drags him into a dangerous journey where reality turns into fantasy and truth becomes indistinguishable from fiction.
