About the title
The year is 1997. The world has survived a technological catastrophe. An orphaned teenage girl sets out across a devastated United States in search of her missing brother. Michelle, a teenager who lost her parents and her little brother Christopher, lives with her foster father. One day a robot version of the cartoon character Cosmo, whom Chris adored, breaks into their home and tells Michelle that Chris is alive, and that his consciousness has somehow ended up inside this hunk of metal. To find her brother, the girl must travel into the Exclusion Zone — a vast, walled-off wasteland populated by defeated robots.
