About the title
A haunting story about 12-year-old Carlos, who, after his father's death, ends up at the Santa Lucia school under the care of headmistress Carmen and Professor Casares. The boy's father was a rebel killed in battle against Franco's regime. And although the orphanage is overcrowded with children, the school's director takes young Carlos in with sympathy.
