About the title
Young lawyer Kevin Lomax arrives in New York at the invitation of the head of a major legal firm. Until then he had been known for defending nothing but scoundrels, and for never losing a single case. At his new job he is quite happy, living in a luxurious apartment with a loving wife, surrounded by interesting people. But soon the situation subtly begins to change, and strange, ominous events occur: one of his colleagues suddenly dies, then his wife commits suicide. Sensing what is going on, Kevin goes to the firm's head, John Milton... who, it turns out, has another name — he is Satan himself, and he intends to explain to the young man why he was invited to New York. Based on the novel by Andrew Neiderman.
