About the title
Andrea Sachs is an ambitious young woman from small-town America. Dreaming of becoming a famous journalist, she graduated from university with honors and came to conquer New York. Confident that her honors degree would easily land her a job, she sent her résumé to every reputable publication in town. But the only response she got was an invitation from Miranda Priestly. This legendary businesswoman, who has for years held the position of editor-in-chief at "Runway" — a fashion magazine famous the world over — was looking for an assistant and asked Ms. Sachs to come in for an interview.
