About the title
While out on her morning run, Amy Carr learns that her son is caught in the middle of a shooting. What is a mother willing to do to save her child? There seems to be almost no room left for hope in the world. There's nowhere to look for help either, since even the authorities are powerless as towns declare lockdown one after another. The cozy little town of Lakewood turns into a separate, independent world - a state cut off from the rest of the country. It is here that a race against death and a struggle against time will unfold.
