About the series
At the center of this story, based on real events, is wheelchair-bound Gypsy Blanchard and her mother Dee Dee, whose endless devotion to her daughter amazes the whole neighborhood. No one suspects that Dee Dee's thirst for control and excessive care have long since crossed every boundary. As Gypsy grows up, she begins to rebel against her mother's suffocating love, and this rebellion has far-reaching consequences.
