About the title
The film is based on the true story of Vyacheslav Karpov, the first Soviet freestyle wrestling champion from Yakutia and a student of the legendary coach Dmitry Korkin. It follows his rise to the heights of sport in the 1960s, and then the dramatic trials that nearly broke him.
