About the title
On a cold, stormy night, an unusual egg falls through young Charlotte's window into her room, and a strange spider hatches from it. The sinister creature becomes the girl's secret friend, and she isn't alarmed that the spider is growing at an unimaginable rate. But when neighbors' pets, and then the neighbors themselves, start disappearing, Charlotte realizes that her family and the other survivors are trapped: they are being hunted by a giant spider hungry for human flesh.
