About the title
1943, the height of World War II. Female officer Maude Garrett boards an American B-17 "Flying Fortress" bomber with a secret cargo and immediately becomes the target of mockery. The captain orders her into the ball turret gunner's seat under the plane's belly, where she spots a Japanese fighter and a strange creature on the fuselage. She's willing to put up with the crew's sexist remarks for now, but she has no intention of letting enemy planes — or sky goblins — run the skies unchecked.
