About the title
In 1988, after defeating Chinese player Nie Weiping in the final of the first Ing Cup, Cho Hun-hyun became a national hero and the first Korean go player to win a major international tournament. For several more years, champion Cho had no compatriots close to his level, until his student Lee Chang-ho — taken on as a pupil while still a child and now grown — rejects conventional strategies and begins defeating veteran masters.
