About the title
1942. A mountain village in North Ossetia. All the men have gone to war, and their families anxiously await news from the front. When death notices begin arriving at neighbors' homes, robbing people of all hope, two brothers persuade the postman to hide the 'black papers' until the war ends. Will the boys manage to outwit grief, or will their actions only delay an inevitable reckoning?
