About the title
Young Pete lives with his grandfather Jagamarra on the outskirts of the small town of Wyndham in Western Australia. Their home is the grounds of an abandoned open-air cinema. Grandfather tries to pass on his experience and knowledge to the younger generation, teaching Pete the hunting skills their ancestors practiced for thousands of years. He wants his grandson to treat the land as his own, to understand and feel the nature around him. But Pete's thoughts are far away — in the city his mother once left for in search of work, and whom he misses terribly. He will have to go through a great deal to be reunited with his mother and live up to his grandfather's hopes.
