About the series
Sarmat. Major Sarmatov, commander of a special forces unit, has carried out missions in almost every 'hot spot' on the planet. He is a hero of several wars in which Soviet 'limited contingents' took part. Now Sarmat receives a top-priority mission: to abduct the American super-agent Matlow from a neighboring eastern state. Matlow is constantly surrounded by highly professional bodyguards, while Sarmat's unit consists of only a few fighters. Nevertheless, the mission is accomplished, but victory comes at a heavy price — Sarmat's entire unit is killed. He himself, badly wounded, falls into the hands of militants along with the kidnapped Matlow. Sarmat is listed as killed, and the general's son Savelov, who betrayed him, receives everything that should have been Sarmat's: his woman, his glory, his Hero's Star. In essence, he appropriates the life of the missing man. For a long time no one knows that the amnesiac patient in a Pakistani hospital is none other than the legendary Sarmat. But every secret eventually comes to light...
