About the title
Tom Ripley, Bernard, and Cynthia have a wonderful time together. One day, an acquaintance of Cynthia's, who is also a talented young artist, dies in a car crash. Ripley quickly figures out how much profit can be made by selling off the young master's paintings. To avoid drawing unwanted attention, the artist's death is carefully concealed. The art trade is brisk, but the paintings soon run out.
