About the title
Upon learning of their father's murder, three adult brothers return to the nearly deserted forests of Oregon where they grew up. Pete, Duffy, and Gus have come to this area with their families to scatter their father's ashes over the mountain river. There they are warmly greeted by uncle Reynolds and his pretty niece Rachel. The eldest brother, Duffy, falls under the spell of this new acquaintance and temporarily leaves his family, only to discover upon his return that his little son Louie has vanished without a trace. This event awakens terrible, long-suppressed memories in their younger brother Pete, who was also abducted as a child and later spent most of his life in a psychiatric hospital. Now, to find Louie, the brothers must join forces and remember what terrible events took place on this river when they were still children.
