About the title
1943. Anna Petrova is a combat pilot who suffered a severe injury. She returned to the rear and now works as lead engineer at an aircraft plant preparing the new "Krechet" planes for testing. Unaware of the lasting effects of her injury, the plant's management assigns Anna, together with Major Zotov, to fly the prototype Krechet to the front. Besides wanting to defeat the enemy and return home victorious, Anna is also pursuing a personal goal: she is determined to settle the score with Major Briegel, the German pilot responsible for her lover's death.
