About the title
Archbishop Rushman has been murdered. The only witness is a young man named Aaron, who is found at the crime scene frightened and covered in the victim's blood. Everyone believes he is responsible for the brutal murder. Renowned attorney Martin Vail takes on the boy's defense in court, confident he can get him acquitted. But the problem is that his opponent is prosecutor Janet Venable, with whom he had an unforgettable romance years ago.
