About the title
1942. Red Army officer Nikolai Kiselyov receives orders to lead more than two hundred Jews — elderly people, women and children who miraculously escaped execution — out of the occupied Belarusian lands and across the front line. These people, exhausted by hunger, having lost their loved ones and nearly driven mad by the horror they endured, must walk hundreds of kilometers along forest paths to find hope of salvation and faith in the future.
