About the title
America in the early 1970s. Avdon Moskowitz, a Russian émigré tailor who survived the horrors of the Holocaust and lost his wife and two younger children, decides to defraud an insurance company in order to help his eldest son, whom he sent to an uncle in New York before the war. One day, a stranger in black appears at the door of Moskowitz's workshop. Introducing himself as an insurance agent, he asks the tailor to answer a few questions. Soon the simple interview turns into a real interrogation.
