About the title
Jake Carson leads a team of experienced smokejumpers who rescue people in the most dangerous and hard-to-reach parts of California's forests. One day they manage to pull three children out of a burning cabin, but their attempt to return the kids to their parents fails, since the parents have moved to another city. To keep the underage Brynn, Zoe, and Will out of the hands of child protective services, Jake decides to temporarily shelter them at his fire station. But having learned to face fire in the most extreme situations, the brave firefighters prove utterly incompetent at raising children...
