About the series
Lieutenant Colonel Alexei Akulich serves at the Mine Action Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus, where he carries out humanitarian demining. His unit clears the country's territory of explosive devices that have remained in the ground since the Great Patriotic War. Alexei's grandfather, Nikolai Petrovich Akulich, was already a member of the volunteer OSOAVIAKHIM detachment as a teenager in 1945 and actively took part in demining Minsk and its surrounding areas.
