About the series
Kulygin, Balabin, Sobolev, Proshkin, together with Bim and Sotnikov, gather in the small town of Starolessk because of a letter from an 11-year-old boy named Pashka from an orphanage. Each of them received a message from the boy claiming that he is his father. The proof enclosed is photographs of the presumed fathers with the boy's mother, whose face is covered by a heart. The letter unsettled each of the possible fathers: could there have been a brief affair 12 years ago with a woman he might have forgotten? Due to illness, Klimov couldn't come, so Proshkin came to the town together with Bim to find out whether Pashka is really Makar's son. And since they are all decent men — one might even say true heroes — they couldn't ignore the possibility of fatherhood, and besides, how could they not help the boy?
